Commensalism |

|
Commensalism (Latin commensalis, ‘sharing the same table’) is a concept in the life sciences. According to the biologist Pierre-Joseph Beneden, writing in 1876, a commensal organism is one which benefits nutritionally from another without causing any harm. In the modern sense, the term encompasses organisms which benefit from shelter or transport. RB
